BookTalk at CornerShelf with Deblina Bhattachrya

Author Deblina Bhattacharya is passionate about reading story books. She is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in English Literature. Her debut poetry book 'KNOTS' creates a successful ripples in readers community. The book will experience the readers different emotions and how we are being knotted with others at deferent stage of life.

CornerShelf: Why did you choose to write such a strong emotional book?
Deblina: I wanted to portray the realities of the world in my book, whether they be good or bad. I have struggled a lot in my life, and so has my mother, and I wanted to depict all twists and turns of life in my book. The light, as well as the darkness.

CornerShelf: What advice would you give to writers looking to work on a poetry book?
Deblina: My advice would be, write from your heart. Don't worry too much about form or rhyme. If free verse is what you are comfortable in, then choose free verse as it offers the most leeway. Write on topics you are truly passionate about. Don't write just to write, write to move the readers.

CornerShelf: The narration is not a continuous flow in 'KONTS'.
Deblina: How did you keep track of the different strands and interweaving narratives?
Well, all the poems in Knots were written in different phases of my life. Hence the narrative is not continuous. As they change again and again with the changes in my life and mindset.

CornerShelf: In future would you like to see yourself as full-time Poet/Writer or it was just a trail?
Deblina: My goal in life is to become a full-time writer and poet. As I said, writing is the love of my life.

CornerShelf: Which Indian novelists do you admire?
Deblina: Indian novelists I admire are Nikita Singh, Devdutt Pattnaik, Arundhati Roy.

CornerShelf: A final parting word of advice?

Deblina: Don't be afraid to dream big. If you don't dream, you'll always be stuck in a small hole. Let yourself free, let yourself dream and explore the world
