The language of the book is very lucid. At some point i have felt very predictive and not so much turns or twists . It's a short story and author didn't waste time to building other characters, rather she concentrated to express ups and downs in the relationship. Small is Big, Volume III by Rafaa Dalvi

'Small is Big' is a special kind of book where some common words has been described in few lines. The emotions, exasperation, endearment have been sprinkled at every page.
Some quotes are really interesting which touch the heart and some lines have deep meaning which expose the dark side of society.

"The rapist's suffering ended after completing the fourteen-year sentence.

But this victim's suffering continues."
It was an emotional journey, passing through all possible kind of human reactions. While reading third part of the series, I do regret for missing prior two volumes. I would like to recommend to all readers , because it's easy to understand the meaning and not so much time consuming.

Her debut poetry book 'KNOTS' creates a successful ripples in readers community. The book will experience the readers different emotions and how we are being knotted with others at deferent stage of life.

CornerShelf: Why did you choose to write such a strong emotional book?
Deblina: I wanted to portray the realities of the world in my book, whether they be good or bad. I have struggled a lot in my life, and so has my mother, and I wanted to depict all twists and turns of life in my book. The light, as well as the darkness.

CornerShelf: What advice would you give to writers looking to work on a poetry book?
Deblina: My advice would be, write from your heart. Don't worry too much about form or rhyme. If free verse is what you are comfortable in, then choose free verse as it offers the most leeway. Write on topics you are truly passionate about. Don't write just to write, write to move the readers.

CornerShelf: The narration is not a continuous flow in 'KONTS'.
Deblina: How did you keep track of the different strands and interweaving narratives?
Well, all the poems in Knots were written in different phases of my life. Hence the narrative is not continuous. As they change again and again with the changes in my life and mindset.

CornerShelf: In future would you like to see yourself as full-time Poet/Writer or it was just a trail?
Deblina: My goal in life is to become a full-time writer and poet. As I said, writing is the love of my life.

CornerShelf: Which Indian novelists do you admire?
Deblina: Indian novelists I admire are Nikita Singh, Devdutt Pattnaik, Arundhati Roy.

CornerShelf: A final parting word of advice?

Deblina: Don't be afraid to dream big. If you don't dream, you'll always be stuck in a small hole. Let yourself free, let yourself dream and explore the world

Love Story of a Commando by Swapnil Pandey

Title : LOVE STORY OF A COMMANDO
Author : Swapnil Pandey
'LOVE STORY OF A COMMANDO' by Swapnil Pandey is blood tingling story which will make you to experience passion, agony, gallantry, sacrifice and love. The story line goes through different stages of life and makes teary eyes.
The story depicts a different angle of soldier's life, behind his patriotic face. Riya is a millennial who doesn't experience the intensity of love before until she meets Captain Virat.

Their first meeting lasts for very short duration but in typical Bollywood style,'with a flash of second, she took him down along with her, straight to the floor'. But Virat disappears without any clue but Riya starts flying as love bird. Soon Riya realizes the wait for Virat turning to 'endless', so she moves to Mumbai
to start a fresh. But destiny outlines their life in different way and their journey intersects again under the
burning dome of the Taj Palace hotel. Virat and Riya finds themselves very closer during rescuing operation, again Virat fades away.
Shattered, Riya decides to take away herself from urban life-style and grabs the opportunity work for orphans
in Kashmir valley. The prime minister's visit brings violence and gunfire back into her life.
Will Virat appear this time to extricate her? If Virat comes, how she would absolve him and how Virat would
justify his dissipation.

The story comprises of 'mystery of love' and 'menace of terrorism'. The author excellently narrates which keeps me to turn the pages with excitement. The author is able to justify how powerful Love is and simultaneously
patriotism fades all emotions. Plot, characterization perfectly go with story line and author shows her brilliance.

BookTalk at CornerShelf with Sunil Mishra, author of 'WHO STOLE MY JOB'

Sunil Mishra is a software professional with over two decades of experience in the field of technology. He is truly enamored of evolving new technologies and their impact on our daily and work lives. He loves to travel and so far traveled to more than 30 countries across six continents.

CornerShelf: Tell us something about yourself?(childhood memory,
schooling, professional life, interests, hobbies).

Sunil: I grew up in a relatively small city, Bokaro Steel City in Jharkhand. My initial days were more focused on studies though I liked playing football and little of writing here and there. I did my engineering from ISM Dhanbad and MBA from IIM Lucknow. For last 20 years I have worked with multiple companies including Infosys, Accenture, McKinsey, Oracle and Tisco.

I developed some interest in travelling which was the basis of my first book "Transit Lounge" - a travel account of 30 countries.

CornerShelf: Which is your first and/or most precious memory of books?

Sunil: My early memory of books is all on academics. I was not an avid reader during my study days. I started reading novels very recently. One of the early books I read was "Nirmala" by Premchand.

CornerShelf: What inspired you to write your latest book 'WHO STOLE MY JOB', is this personal experience?

Sunil: I am actively exposed to the field of technology and the disruption it is facing. This is not only affecting our work lives but redefining what it means to be human in the age of artificial intelligence and automation.

The future of work is going to be different for all of us. This is a very interesting topic that inspired me to write a story like that. The story is not a personal account.

CornerShelf: If given a chance to ask a question to an author, whom would you like to ask and what would be the question?

Sunil: I recently read a book Life 3.0 by Max Tegmark. It talks about the third generation of life in the age of technology. I found the book very interesting.

The question that I would ask him is the same as the title of my book -"Who Stole My Job"

CornerShelf: How do you accept negative feedback?

Sunil: I read almost every review comment buy the readers. They really provide good third person perspective. I really feel good when some readers refer to the book quotes. For me any constructive criticism is more of an opportunity to improve upon. Writing is a process that needs constant improvements.

CornerShelf: How long were you writing before before you published the book?

Sunil: Almost 1 year of writing and another 1 year of publishing

CornerShelf: A few words for our readers.

Sunil: I want to thank readers for the interest in my book and kind words of reviews. I am myself an avid reader though I started late. Reading books in general could be one of the most enriching experience.

I am really amazed to see that even in this age of shrinking attention spans the number of book lovers are growing instead. Hope it keeps growing.

Book Review : Narasimha by Kevin Missal

Title: Narasimha ( The mahavatar trilogy book 1)

Author: Kevin Missal

Plot: As name indicates the book is about three characters: Narasimha, Prahlad and Hiranya Khashyap

Narasimha is a warrior of Indra, who leaves war and want to lead a normal life. He thinks peace is only way to save the world. He joins the war again in enivitable conditions of threat to innocents. But keep on help questioning his deeds. What changes happen in Indra's army after his rejoining. Will he able to establish peace by rejoining army?

Prahlad is prince of Asuras, demon by birth but not by nature. Prahlad follows his father instructions as he feels it's his duty to fulfil his wishes for being a good father.  When he actually senses what his father doing wrong, he will be in dielemma whether he has to follow his rules or not.
Hiranya Khashyap is king of demons who wants to establish Asura kingdom completely by defeating Indra. Is it really for good reasons?

By taking the characters from puranas, the author tried to show the current social problems like violence, fight for power, brothels and etc. He even pointed how innocent will be hurt when government spares bad people for the source of money. He showed how normal citizens face calamities when nuclear weapons are used for show casing their power. The author succeeded in narrating story interestingly and showing minute details.

Note: The author took only characters from puranas. The exact story is very different than this. There are so many differences like pasupatastra is not a nuclear weapon, Prahlad is devotee of Lord Vishnu by birth, Rudra and Bhairav are not dead. In fact, they are lord Shiva himself, so there is no question of death to me them and many more.

BookTalk at CornerShelf with Author Devika

On third episode, today we got chance to welcome author Devika Das for a short chat session.

Devika is an award-winning author and poet, Devika's successful title The Mind Game talks about emotional intelligence and how to find the purpose of life. Creative Writing liberates her from daily activities and helps her explore herself as a person. She pursues her passion for acting and is an active theater artiste in Hyderabad.

CornerShelf: When did it dawn upon you that you wanted to be a writer?

Devika: It happened by chance. Wasn’t a conscious decision

CornerShelf: Do you have a set schedule for writing, or are you one of those who write only when they feel inspired?

Devika: I write when I feel inspired or passionate about a topic
"MIND GAME"-- Completely a different genre, it's like exercising your mind and shape perfectly to live happily.
We are living a fast-paced life today; you need to find a balance so that you can assess your performance and find your purpose in life. That is possible only when you are stress-free.

CornerShelf: What makes this genre you are involved in so special?

Devika: Self-help is in high demand now because people are so busy that they have forgotten to focus on their priorities. In this way, you will find yourselves asking, “what am I doing and for what?” If I can help people become happy and accept themselves as they are, then why should I leave a chance.
Writers are often associated with loner tendencies; is there any truth to that?
It holds true for me. My best works are a result of the emptiness inside me.

CornerShelf: Do you feel new generation is missing an experience of reading paper book and enjoying it?

Devika: The joy of holding a paperback and the smell of fresh pages of a book is something young readers miss today. First, how many among the youth read nowadays? You have different sources of entertainment nowadays online.

CornerShelf: Any tips you would like to share to overcome it?

Devika: Reading habit must be inculcated since childhood... Parents have a great responsibility in developing interest among their children to read paperbacks. I used to read picture books as a child. Still, I have not developed an interest in eBooks J

CornerShelf: Do you read and reply to the reviews and comments of your readers? What is the best review so far you have received?

Devika: Yes. I follow the book reviews on Amazon and Instagram regularly. I was overwhelmed with this review.  I have interacted with the reviewer as well on Instagram.

CornerShelf: Romantic Fiction is very popular topic, when we may expect a book on same topic?

Devika: Not soon as I am not much fond of this genre.

Would love to meet and interact with you again :)

Book Talk at CornerShelf

On our episode II, today's guest is Sarang Kawade, author of  'You begin where I end'. We shall talk about how is his experience , why he has chosen pen rather than camera to express his words.

Cornershelf: Tell something about yourself and what you do other than being an author.

Sarang: Hi, I'm Sarang. I'm a software engineer by profession, but a writer at heart. I'm 27 years old. And I have recently published my debut novel - You Begin Where I End. Oh, and I love cats (something you should definitely know about me).

Cornershelf:   When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

Sarang: I used to write poems and put up my insights about life on Facebook, when my childhood friend encouraged me to write more. I had gotten into reading serious literature around the same time, and thus began my journey towards being a writer. I believe, I was fated to become one.

Cornershelf: Being a debut author how difficult it was to get published copy?

Sarang: My first two books were self-published anthologies. So, I’m not exactly a debut author, rather it was my debut novel with a traditional publishing giant. If you have a good story to tell which can be commercially viable, your manuscript proposal is bound to be accepted. I didn’t face difficulty in that part of publishing. Marketing a book has been my weakness though, and I have learnt a lot of lessons after my debut novel. Will hopefully use these lessons for the next book

Cornershelf'You begin where I end' exposes same conundrum in two different generations. How tough it was to blend two generation together?

Sarang: It was tougher for me to differentiate between the two generations rather than blending them together. Because the blending of stories was already part of my plot when I had thought of it. But when I began writing, I realized I’ll have to include elements that distinctly separate the mother’s story from 90s and the daughter’s story in 2015. Apart from explicit details like the women's issues now and then, I employed language modulation as well to show the generation gap between mother and daughter.

Cornershelf: What do you like to do when you're not writing?

Sarang:  Playing with my cats, reading, exploring music, movies, chess

Cornershelf: What was one of the most surprising things you come across in creating your books?

Sarang: The most surprising aspect for me was to learn how the same cover, story, and the intentions are interpreted by each reader in their own way. I have received bricks and bouquets both for my book. And it was quite overwhelming at first to see such polarizing reactions. Gradually, I accepted that a book once released is more about reader’s interpretation rather than author’s intention.

Cornershelf: Who is your favorite author?

Sarang:  God of small things by Arundhati Roy
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
The Stranger by Albert Camus
Kafka for his ideas
Bukowski for his poetry

Cornershelf:   Last question, when you may expect the next novel?

Sarang: I am not working on a book yet, brainstorming for ideas as of now. Will start once I find a good story to share with the world.

Till then, you can follow my work on Instagram where I write poems and prose. My handle is: @powerpuffwords
 Thank you so much.

SO CALLED LOVE STORY

Title : SO CALLED LOVE STORY
Author: Nitin Kumar and Diksha Gupta
Publisher : Redgrab Books
"It's insecurity that is always chasing you and standing in the way of your dreams."- Vin Diesel
"Ego is the only requirement to destroy any relationship. So. be a bigger person skip the 'E'
and let it 'GO'." How insecurity and ego can disturb a well-going relationship, is described in this book,'So called love story'.

This is romantic love story but doesn't end with happy faces. At first look Vivek awes by the simplicity and beauty of Virali. Virali was vacillating between love or infatuation, finally accepts proposal of Vivek.
Ananya and Siddharth belong to same friend zone, where Vivek and Virali find each other who have contribution to evolve Vivek-Virali relationship and as well as breakdown.
For every incident there are different story in each viewer's eyes, here also first part has been described according to Vivek's view and second part narrates how Virali contemplates same relationship. Due to uncomfortable circumstances Virali starts ignoring Vivek, but his insecurity generates a gap. In the mean time Virali shifts herself to different part of town wishing their relationship will blossom as previous.Grab the book if you would like to know how they recoup their loosing trust.
The language of the book is easy to grasp. But the book cover doesn't go with title or contents. Over all I have enjoyed the concept and setting up the plot.

FOREVER is not ENOUGH by Reecha Agarwal Goyal

'FOREVER is not ENOUGH' is inspired by a true story where Anay and Rhea are protagonists. How their relationship evolves, how their journey draws curves.
"Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans"---Lennon

In reality everyone endure problematic life, but it comes in different shape at different stages. Anay and Rhea are one of those couples who also encounter snags. Their relationship very easily gets accepted by both parents, but the speed breaker comes when it is discovered that Rhea is being suffered from lymphoma, a type of cancer. Everything around them fade away, their priorities gets changed. A sudden court-marriage, Anay's relocation to Delhi in order to better treatment, follow one after one. When everything seems perfect, the tragedy happens and the happy ending relationship becomes pale.
The characterization and plot of the story is very much appreciateable but the story is too fast and transition between one phase to another jumps easily. Title and Cover page undoubtedly go with content of the book. I would recommend those new readers who are bored of repetitive happy ending stories.

CornerShelf: Tell something about yourself including your hobby, interest, profession family.
Anurag: I’m just like a open book any one can read me well. But the good thing is that my each and every routine has its own pattern which I have to handle. As a writer there’s a lot of things which can confuse anybody about putting a story.
Interests: writing thoughts,quotes,poems,Stories.
Hobbies: traveling new places, food lover, watching movies, Book reading.
And in daily routine just working for my own startup ideas. For now I’m just desiring to start something new that belongs to my own.And also giving my valuable time
on it.
My family contains five members, a father, a mother, me, one elder and a small sister.

CornerShelf: Your new novel 'Love you more than yesterday' what is about?

Anurag: The story revolves around three friends Ashwin, a business professional ; Paridhi, a college professor and Harsh, an aspiring movie star. Ashwin who is in deep love with Paridhi was unable to confess his feelings infront of her. She too remains unaware of his feelings towards her and considers him only a friend. Meanwhile Harsh also starts liking Paridhi and gradually gets close to her. After seeing a change in Paridhi's behavior Ashwin gets hurt and starts living in solitude . Though he couldn't forget her as he always believed that he was born just to love her so he finally decides to confess his feelings in front of her. But being in love is never so easy especially when its a
complicated one!
Will Ashwin be able to confess his feelings?
Will they get married or get separated?
To know more you will perhaps have to read it yourself.
“It's loaded with Heavy dose of romance, drama, & comedy, means you shouldn't have to miss this
chance. I'm not saying that its the best romantic book, but there's really satisfying story that will make
any place in your heart. Its not only the romantic novel its more than from it.”

CornerShelf: Is this fictional story or you have experienced same?
Anurag: Yeah,it’s totally fictional story. And the whole story is running on realistic ambiance and places.
But most of the situations and few moments which I put in this story,I have really experienced. And you can say it’s a perfect blend of lucid story telling and life experience.

CornerShelf: So this is you debut novel right? So how long it takes to finish it?
Anurag: Yes Of course, it’s my debut novel. The story was already completed but few things were left.it took two years of time to complete. A single year in which I had written the book in my diary, then in other six months added few other things on story. And after completion I typed it with the great time. That was like a different kind of happiness which I was feeling that time.

CornerShelf: What made you feel that you should write a novel.
Anurag: I really don’t know how to do it,but it just happens itself.Actually I’m seeing the stories around me in my daily life. And the few ideas are from there and others are just a creation.I’m truly believing in world of thoughts.because in the creating of any story you just have to be aware about plausible thoughts which really helpful to design the world of your own story.

CornerShelf: How this is book is differ from other romantic stories?
Anurag: There's really something interesting in the story. In few case I can say it’s different. It’s all about the
feelings,What the main lead character shows in the story. And beyond the story there's really few heartstrings that may urges you to read the book. Notwithstanding,As a romantic book it has few more other elements that can glue you till the end.
It's not only the story it’s a tell about life and love.

CornerShelf: So far how is the response from readers?
Anurag: Readers are liking the plot, and also sharing their experiences of reading my book. They also sharing their feedback on my book. And also sharing their selfie’s and pics with my book.
And these all things means a lot to me,I’m also feeling grateful to have such a readers like them.

CornerShelf: How was the experience while writing and who motivated you most?
Anurag: The experience was quite balancing and blissful. It was just like an anxiety.I was desiring to complete it fast.because before writing the whole story was running in my mind that went very hard for me to put every segment on the perfect place.by this most of the time I was just thinking over and over for the next incidents.

In my opinion books and movies are playing better part for motivation.

CornerShelf: What about next novel? Have you already started writing?
Anurag: Yeah,It will come.Maybe it takes few time, but I’ll assure that it definitely come till at the end end of 2019.Yes,I have started it.but few issues I’m unable give the perfect timing for this one.but really working for to manage the time. Actually this things are happening because I’m not writing on daily basis because of my mood.

It's a pleasure for us for having chat and once again thanks to Anurag for sharing his words as well as congratulations for his debut novel.

'You are the Best Wife: A True Love Story' by Ajay K Pandey

The Author has unique style in all of his novels, the first half makes as happy the second makes you as down.
This time also he didn't miss to partition with a message "For those who believe in perfect endings, I would suggest that you don't read beyond this. For all readers who believe in a perfect ending, my book ends here".
Ajay had aspiration of pursuing IIT,but unfortunately after couple of attempt settled in 'IERT' where he met Bhavna. Interest first raised from Ajay, gradually their friendship turns to 'love'. As they belong to different caste, their journey was not easy to get social acceptance. The story moves ahead with positive vibes, despite of Ajay's struggling to manage job, managing parents to accept 'non-brahmin' daughter-in-law.

Bhavna always encouraged Ajay, reminding not to surrender. Happy moments continue, Ajay managed job after MBA and was able to proof 'Love is secular' to his parents.
Suddenly the interval comes, Bhavna got hospitalised suffering from dengue. This section of the story will make you sobbing. Finally Bhavna surrendered to death after couple weeks fight which brought a drastic change in Ajay's family.
In order to fulfil all Bhavna's unaccomplished duties, eventually Ajay started believing in humanity while he lost interest in God for abrupt change.
There is something in each page which will lead you turn next page. The character building , giving importance to each character are really treasure. I would recommend to all who love romantic stories but never mind for sad ending.

DONE WITH HER by Chirasree Bose

"DONE WITH HER.." is a story comprises of love, lust, obsession and murder.
Publisher : evincepub publishing
Avesh mathur, a techie stumbles accross Spreeha who resembles to someone in past. Avesh along with Vrijen and Dheeraj wiped out Shivansh and deteriorated Chanda. The society condoned such brutal crime, because Shivansh and Chaanda committed an offence
by loving each other. How Spreeha assembled everything accomplish her wish that
has been narrated in this story.
Last few pages have some important messages which are enough to slap those brutal
society leaders who kill 'Love' such brutally. 'Purity' is not the virginity of sexuality, rather it's state of soul. 'You can not live by the definitions, rules and protocols set by others. Live by your own.' It is a very tight story which hooked me till end. The author set up the plots and characters
excellently, much appreciated. But I believe the deliciousness could be better, as it has all kind of spices.

At the end author has pleaded saying 'There is enough hatred, enough violence, enough grief on earth already. Let love spread wings.." Rating: 3.5 / 5

Socha bhi Na Tha

Socha bhi Na Tha
Author: Sriman Narayanan
Publisher: Srishti

By seeing cover pic and the tag line 'Love, Heartbreak & Marriage', I framed the story would be a
triangular relationship where either of couple will be tied and another one will walk away. But
it was not like that.

Socha Bhi Na Tha

The author tried build two stories simultaneously, but stories are not concurrent. One relationship
with Padma is decaying and another with Aditi is ripening. Another integral part of the story is mail conversation, instead of chat or long duration call.
Padma who doesn't have any remarkable quality which can steal Shyam's heart, but circumstances make him to say 'Yes' when she proposed her and gets married. The relationship didn't last long. Aditi is a character of beauty and charming, impresses Shyam easily. But when she professes her love to Shyam, he replies 'No'. Later when Shyam feels 'Love' and expresses his feelings , Aditi refuses to accept. Eventually Shyam gets settled along with Shrisha.
The heart-broken part has been expressed very honestly, you can relate if you have gone through. But
the story has been marinated with too much office stuffs which may not be interesting to everyone. At end of the story you will find out the truth of life, "Your Past is your Destiny. Your future is your
free will. Your present is your prarabdha karma".

Sometimes it Happens by Karan Sharma

This exceptional but not impossible love story finds the way to register 'married', though the journey to convince parents, society were not smooth. Initially Rohit planted some scenarios in Gautam's mind which could lead them to separate in future and later same happened with Roshni when Sonal took the place of Rohit, eventually love drags both of them together. Throughput the journey Gautam earned precious support of Richa, elder sister of Gautam.
When people don't know what would be waiting for tomorrow then  how a person can judge a relationship and push a couple away from each other. I would be happy if this was a true story ,not a fictional. The best part is ,there are some lines at last paragraph where author describes the attitude of judgemental people.
The story ends with typical Bollywood style, overall I have enjoyed and would recommend my friends despite of some errors which could be rectified .

Still Not Sure

Still Not Sure by Pragnya Shree.
Type: eBook
Publisher : NotionPress
The title outlines the contents briliantly, it is a romantic story of traingle relationship where Sid, Sugandha and Isha form the love-traingle. The story flows in unidirection, Sid and Sugandha have been in a bond for long days, suddenly Isha jumps into the relationship. As soon as a misunderstading pushes away Sid and Sugandha, Sid tries to persuade Isha.

Being aware of Sid's existing relationship,Isha approaches for friendship later it evolves to beyond friendship. Isha was aware she will be thrown one day, but couldn't resist herself because of Sid's perfections. Eventually the day comes when Isha has to choose something wisely when she gets Sugandha decalred 'roka' alongwith family memebers to surprise Sid. Being a true lover she withdraws herself and moves away absorbing all pain.

This story doesn't have anything special twist, it would be perfect script of Bollywood movies. I loved few things like, sentence framing, execution of momentum despite some corrections are needed.

Beloved Childhood by Vidushi Garg

"One of the luckiest thing that can happen to you in life is, I think, to have a happy childhood. This is a very special time period which decides the journey for rest of the life."

Beloved Childhood by Vidushi Garg

The story is about Teena, a stubborn, self-centric pampered girl who loves to stay in shade of her parents but has an ambition to study in English medium school. There is no nearby English medium school so her parents had to send her to boarding school. As soon as she enters in school premises, she understands how to exist in crowd, make own identity and earn everyone's attraction. Initially she couldn't accept this sudden transition in her life which impacted in her face as well as in her study.
When she went back to home Loosing her hope, her mom who dreams to make her daughter established set a deal to send back school. This is the turning point in Teena's life, she fell down but again stood up own and faced the truth. Eventually she started loving the school life. one day she couldn't mingle any of the class mate, now receives surprising birthday wishes. In this four year time span, Teena learnt importance of some lessons which helped her to transform from 'a lump of clay' into 'a strong beautiful pot'.
The words are very simple and edible for teenagers who are the target audiences. But I think the story could be in better shaped, absence of finishing touch quite visible. I wouldn't disrespect such beautiful-beloved Childhood memory and definitely recommend my teenager friends to read it.
