Title: Spice Up Your Speechifying With Light-Hearted Quotations

Author: Rajjan Shinghal
Publisher: zorbabooks

As the name suggests, this book is a collection of light-hearted quotations. Quotations play an important role in life, and can be used to enrich our speeches. Also, to apply in life to get peace of mind.
You may wonder how light-hearted quotations are different from quotations. The explanation is given in the book like below.
"Light-hearted quotations often go against received wisdom, They are based on scepticism, they cover puns and play on words, or they turn around serious quotations"
Best part about this book is every quotation is provided with the name and pseudonym of the author of the quotation, also relevant details.
If you are searching for a collection of quotes, this book is an excellent option. IT is a useful book to flip through whenever you feel like reading a quote.
Some of the quotes are:

"Both marriages were failures, Number one departed, and number two stayed." Gustav Mahler(1860-1911), Astrian musician

"Before I got married, I had six theories about bringing up children. Now I have six children, but no theories" - John Wilmot
"If an Englishman gets run down by a truck, he apologises to the truck" - Jackie Mason, American comedian.

"If you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there' - Lewis Carrol

"You respond to every question, but you do not necessarily answer it"

I liked the background given for the quote if they are having any.

Review:
The thriller mystery goes quite interesting short read. Narration pace is good, but a bit confusing in some places where the narration goes from one scene to another scene abruptly. Reader has to think to relate different parts of the book. Overall, a good book for quick thriller mystery.

The Mother of all parties by Padmini Sankar

Title: The Mother of all parties

Publisher: harpercollinsin
Author : paddersatdubai
.
'The mother of all parties' by Padmini Sankar is a delectable story and the experience of reading is equally luscious.
As the title suggests the story revolves around a party, 20th marriage anniversary of Pam and Raj, an occasion to evince the superiority and subdue the snide remarks of Honey Sarin. Pam and Honey belong to the same lavish society in Dubai but a silent competition of 'making fun of' exists. Despite of busy professional life, they never compromised any chance of social gathering and it has been beautifully depicted how those occasions turn into a source of labrish.

The anniversary is four weeks away, without wasting time Pam starts sketching the theme of the party. Pam finds herself submerged in numerous problems with each passing day. How she will make it?

The story is very relatable, it unmasks the faces who greet and complement us at each possible occasion. The priority of life defines the happiness in life it has been beautifully described in the story. The author is very ingenious and generous to inject 'a witty remark' which turns an entertaining story. There are many resources to relish in the story and the author brilliantly manages to intact the momentum throughout the narration.

Mehek is one of them with whom Ravi connected through a dating app, Sofu. What the message all about and why three of them feel in 'deep shit'.
The narration of the story is very easy, the content is very interesting and intriguing. It learns the importance of friendship, dark side of trust, intimate relationships. But framing of the story doesn't deserve much appreciation, it could have been better.

"That is how I became A SANYASI". A single bold step is enough to transform your life

"That is how I became A SANYASI" by Khemlata Negi is a heartwarming story, enlivened by a succession of emotions, aspirations, disloyalty
,courage and sacrifice.
The story revolves around Diksha who excels at education and professional life to secure future and Gautam, a highly ambitious businessman who forgets "Money is usually attracted, not pursued". They start their life in own way and uproot to standard life-style but destiny drags them at same place.
A sudden death of her father trembles Diksha and she agrees to tie knot. But her marital doesn't last long, she has to draw full stop after immediate loosing of her mom. Gautam leads an elegant lifestyle, but his obsession for money keeps him away from family.
But a similar guilt pains Diksha and Gautam both, Diksha feels guilty for not having spent time with her parents and Gautam realizes his mistakes when his wife force him to alienate from family.
Their endeavor to get rid off guilt ends at Rishikesh, a most tranquil place , is often claimed as the 'Yoga Capital of the World’. How will they embark later part of life?
A single bold step is required to live in peace even though it has some teary consequences. The plot and characterization are good but I feel at some place the story has been overemphasized. The essence of word "sanyasi" has been described brilliantly,
A true sanyasi is the one who sacrifices his or her life for the well being of others by becoming a bridge between ignorance and awakening.

Seven Sundays by Shouvik Banerjee

The story of failure always drag us behind and we perceive ourselves in same bracket without a single try due fear of failure.
We fret it, we try to avoid it, and we question ourselves every time we have unconventional ideas. But the simple truth is – no great success was ever achieved without failure. It may be one epic failure.
Or a series of failures – such as Edison's 10,000 attempts to create a light bulb or Dyson’s 5,126 attempts to invent a bag-less vacuum cleaner. But, whether we like it or not, failure is a necessary stepping stone to achieving our dreams.

"Fix your failures, before your failures fix you."

SEVEN SUNDAYS revolves around mid aged entrepreneur Alok, who, despite of his all struggles finds himself in toughest situation, edge of the line, from where a miracle only can do a remarkable turnaround in his fortunes. In the consequences his wife Sheela and daughter Nemo leave him and gradually his overdraft amount piles up. When he is busy to complain for his failure, he meets a person who didn't come across before but introduces himself one of his college-mate. It was hard to recognize him for Alok, due to such long time gap but as soon as their conversation starts, a different story unfolds.
The stranger's name is Animesh, he narrates a beautiful story of Amal, an ambitious boy lives with dream of being astronaut. Alok and Animesh meets on every Sunday for next 7 weeks and Animesh continues same story on each meeting.
Will Alok embark his passion to clinch the SUCCESS and how would be his journey?
The story depicts the seven different nature of failures personified by different characters like Hermit, Monkey, Priest, Maiden, Scholar, Magician. This book has remedies to overcome such negativity and reach at SUCCESS. The story has been briefed at end of each chapter adds extra mark. It is a great story to find some motivation at any stage of life.

Bhoot Bhavish Bartaman by Mehool Parekh

Title: Bhoot Bhavish Bartaman
Author: Mehool Parekh

The story is about a murder case solved by Bartman an army man with help of Robin a journalist. Author narrates past of the victim and  present of case investigation in alternate chapters. In present, police men of Pune finds a dead body of Rupali in brutal way. Even though the case looks straight for police men, Bartman and Robin feels there is zigzag puzzle in the case. Is the case really zigzag or it is just imagination?

In background, Rupali comes from a lower middle class family and wants to become rich and settle. In the way to become rich, what all she has done? Did she take correct path? Is it her own deeds caused brutal murder?
Review: I felt the author could not make enough interest in depiction of murder case apart from Robin and Bartman think it is not normal.
Narration is in good pace and interesting. Even though the novel is about a girl who uses her sexuality to get her works to be done, there is no erotic story. So the author had to give words and judgements directly in words than showing in narration. Overall, it has been very interesting read.

BookTalk with Samman Roy

Born and Brought up in Kolkata, Samman Roy had been  a bookworm since the age of three.
From childhood , he had a keen taste in various aspects of arts  such as literature, music, drawing and later, movie. After completing his B.Tech and working in an MNC in Pune, he realized his true calling lies in the field of creativity. He completed his short internship at TVF, Mumbai and returned to his hometown to pursue a career in filmmaking-which is an amalgamation of all the art forms that interested him. Since then he had been making various films, writing and occasionally recording his own songs.

Here we will talk about him to agnize him closely and recent publish book, ' Memories of the Millennial '.

When did you first realize that you want to be an author?
👉 I started reading stories pretty early in life. So whenever I was not studying, I would be reading something or the other. Most of the time my mind would be occupied with stories and ideas of my own. Soon this pushed me towards trying my hand at writing them down. Unfortunately, at that time I would hardly be able to complete any of those stories, but deep down I felt an urge to be able to write something. So even before I realized it, I had a longing to be an author.

Whose support was instrumental in your journey to finish the book?
👉 I didn't really have a plan of publishing a book in the beginning. It was around a time when I had completed my college and had close to six months before I could join work. So I had a lot of free time, in which I started writing down these ideas I had in my mind for some time, in the form of stories. I had a few loyal friends, who used to be a focus group at that time. They were kind enough to read these stories and give their feedback very bluntly. It helped me a lot in identifying my mistakes and also motivated me to complete this book later.

When an author starts writing, he starts with a vision or target. Who are the target readers for your story?
👉 Honestly I didn't want to have a core target group for this book. But it turns out that all the stories which are in this book, has a common underlying theme. We were growing up at a time, when the world and our country in particular, was rapidly changing. First the telecom revolution happened and then came the digital revolution. Mobile phones, internet and social media became an integral part of our lives. But we are a generation who witnessed it happen in our formative years. So we couldn't fully let go of the traditional old world charms of the previous generation, nor could we stay away from the technological advancement that was unfolding in front of us. This makes us - the Millennial - a very interesting generation in my opinion. I hope all my fellow millennials will definitely relate to these stories.

'Memories of a Millennial' depicts your own experience. Why did you think that it should be shared with others?
👉 All the stories are not about my personal experiences. Some of them are pure fiction. But what is common among all of them is the fact that it smells of a very specific worldview that emerged in the early 21st century. Be it the sensitivity around homosexuality, increase in infidelity, the consciousness of choosing careers that are unconventional but gratifying... these stories stem from an ethos which is very intrinsic to our generation. So I think many people will find something or the other which they can relate to, once they read these stories.

As a child what did you want to do when you grew up?
👉 I had been a very confused child throughout. Initially, as I mentioned earlier, I had wanted to be an author. Then there came a point, when I wanted to be a physicist. In college I had opted for engineering, mostly out of peer pressure. But to be honest, I never really knew what I wanted to be until college was over and I got a long break of six months to contemplate. It was around that time I started watching world cinema and began reading again.

Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?
👉 This is the first book I have written. So I honestly have no idea about what readers would expect. I write whenever I feel there is a story which cannot be better told in any other medium.

What authors did you dislike at first but grew into?
👉 I can't remember any author whom I disliked. Since my childhood till my teens, I would read mostly books in genres of horror, thriller, mysteries or detective stories. But later when I began my second phase of reading, I began with "Notes From The Underground". And since then Fyodor Dostoyevsky has been my favorite author. Reading his books feels like the author is interacting with you at a very personal level, tapping on corners of your mind which you never knew even existed!

Digital media is so much strong and efficient for instant entertainment. Do you believe the space for story book is being squeezed?
👉 I had heard Arijit Singh give a very interesting response to a question he was asked in an interview. He was asked whether Indian Classical music is getting lost under the glitz and glamour of popular music. He said that it's not getting lost; it's just that classical music is no longer for performance, but for practice and meditation. Similarly, I feel that literature used to be the mainstream source of entertainment earlier. Now it's place has changed. Now people don't necessarily turn to books for entertainment. Nowadays one is more likely to pick up a book for inspiration, peace and calmness in this otherwise frenzy of a world!

PARAA by Deepa Msl

Beyond the prison of Thought,
Lies an Endless Sky to Soar,
Beyond That What You Conceive  of Yourself
Lies PARAA.

Paraa is the integrated prescription to get rid of daily facing obstacles. It is the result of author's firm conviction to create a change in individuals, to overcome hindrances, for better tomorrow. Being a girl child how the situation begins from home and through the journey from girlhood to wife and from wife to motherhood has been beautifully depicted in this book. Unfortunately the author has to go through worst part of life when she used to tremble in fear, shock and helplessness. But she has overcome and tackled with self-confidence, she couldn't find herself always in wining slot but moved ahead with positive thought and lessons from previous mistakes.

The book is comprised with several segments which has been arranged same order as we come across at different events in our life. At the end of every segment author raises questions in 'Time to Introspect' section to unveil a better you. Besides 'To do List' provides numerous therapy of the problem which can be followed. The language is very easy, introduction of short poems at beginning of every chapter shows the rich poetic knowledge of the author.
But the book many not be interesting for every reader, so I would like to request to glance through the book blurb before start reading.

How far their long distance relationship brew?
In third chapter of the story, Kadhir finds resource to live in his own dream rather continuing like a slave in job and concentrates to build his career in Cricket.

How will Richa motivates him to pursue his dream?
It's a very beautiful romantic story, but doesn't end with traditional way. Story is interesting and engaging and easy to read. The characterization is brilliant and every character has important role to build the story. Unexpectedly I found many interesting sketches which depict the content.
Sometimes I felt the narration makes loop aimlessly. Still I would recommend to those readers who enjoy fictional romantic story.

Freedom: Human Trafficking and Encounter with Soul

“Human trafficking is the intentional forcing of another into slavery.”
― Asa Don Brown

     Title: FREEDOM
      Publisher: Notion Press.

Freedom is a story regarding human trafficking and stumble with Soul. First part talks regarding Human Trafficking. Although illegal under Indian law, human trafficking remains a significant problem in this country – and women and girls pay the highest price. But it's also not only women and girls are being victim always, a large number of children irrespective of sex are being forced to work as child labour and in worst case in illegal business. Honey, a budding detective who has opted the occupation considering her passion. She is working under a famous detective in the town and gets involved in a case where she finds for same reason the truth is being compromised. In order dig down the case, she comes across some victims who are being suffered in commercial sexual exploitation, surrogacy. Without wasting any time she sinks herself to expose the faces who are behind this barbaric and inhumane activities.
Will Honey be able to unmask those faces?

In second part Rasbeen encounters with Soul at such a moment when nothing is favouring her. Despite of hard work, her performance graph goes down day by day in every exams and at the same moment her father continues pressurised.

Will she be able to regain her performance after encountering with Soul?

In the first part I found very thrilling and there is a unexpected twist at end. The subject is very sensitive and serious, but at certain point I sensed author has taken other aspects very casually to keep focus on main issue. But a question still scratching in mind to know what is the reason behind to blend two stories in same book?
The story could be few pages more, but obviously it's author's choice to draw line. Thanks to author to enlighten such subject and present such a beautiful story.

ICE TOWN by Akash Rathod

It's said that when you desperately want something, the universe conspires to make it happen. But on the other hand it's true that you  need to prioritize among your wish list.
The story revolves around two protagonists Sagar and Anjali who meet each other and a relationship evolves. On the event of terrorism on
26/11, like many other Sagar feels so wretched when he finds Anjali as lifeless in hospital bed.
The story proceeds with flashback.
Akash uproots himself in 'dream city' Mumbai, but lack of ambition makes him confused on the other hand Anjali is carries a different attitude which gives her
an identity 'Prostitute'. When you devote yourself to achieve something but destiny plans something else, then your all efforts make  vain. Similarly destiny takes Sagar to somewhere to experience the essence of life when He is desperately trying to impress Anjali.
He reaches at Rishikesh and stumbles across a situation which gives him an opportunity to flourish his photography skill.
But the situation takes turn very soon, his wish to discover the truth behind pollution in the Ganga takes him in a deep trouble.

Will he pursue his dream? Will he be able to publish the truth despite of continuous political threat? How will the love story between Anjali and Sagar blossom?

I loved the story and a special kudos to author how he brilliantly weave so many events one after one. You will experience different angle of human emotions and it's consequences as well. Author very smartly uncovers the meaning of the title at the end of the story. The story comprises of many quotes by renowned persons which enriches the quality of the book.
I felt the sub-grouping of the story is not correct , it makes discontinuity while reading. And blending of toomany events in single book is very risky which could be avoidable.

Rating: 3.5 in 5

BookTalk with Namrata Gupta

It was a great experience talking with Namrata Gupta, a budding author who own two popular novels A Silent Promise (2015) and The Full Circle.. Stumbling Upon A Sinful Mystery (2018).
Currently she is working in an MNC as a Deputy Manager after completing Masters of Business Administration from Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Delhi also she is pursuing her dream of being a popular author. Her debut novel A Silent Promise was released by Mr. Sudhir Mishra (Indian film director) at Gurgaon International Film and Literature Festival.

What made you want to start writing, not just reading?

I loved writing since I was a kid. I used to write poems and articles for national newspapers and school magazines. I loved English Literature. I was always fascinated by it and found my escape in it. So when I started writing poems, I found myself travelling to a completely different world. The love for such travel increased to a level where I created my own different world and hence ended up writing novels. So I would say that it was the love for Literature and flights of fantasy, which writing allows you to have, that made me a writer.

· What's the hardest thing about writing for you?

I think it would be doing justice to the depiction of the characters in my books. So, for example, in The Full Circle.. Stumbling Upon A Sinful Mystery, where the male protagonist, Aditya, is a traveler, besides capturing a range of stories at the places Aditya visits, the novel also highlights a range of complexities in its characters, who come from different cultures, backgrounds, mind set and have had different life experiences. Zinnia’s, the female protagonist, is a complex character. She has had her own struggles to fight with. She is tough yet soft. She exhibits motherly care yet is a young girl at heart. In the same manner, Jacqueline and Aditya too have had their own past. Jacqueline’s character is reformed from an emotionally distraught girl to an empowered one. Aditya is shown with fine degrees of empathy, understanding, maturity and kindness.
So I would say that sewing the past experiences of characters and where they come from within the narrative, while justifying their present complexities as rooting from the past or being a result of various psychological and socio-cultural influences, and at the same time keeping those intact and running along in the narrative requires efforts from the writer’s end. Plus, they also have to grow as persons within the story and that too has to be highlighted, keeping their integrity intact, without them coming out as whimsical, if they’re not supposed to.

· The protagonist of The Full Circle.. Stumbling Upon A Sinful Mystery is a Traveler by nature, do you come across such character or it's completely fictional?

It’s completely fictional. Like I said, being able to escape the reality and creating an alternate world is what I love the most about writing. I have always loved travelling and exploring new things. I feel that the memories of the places one visits is the best form of treasure that one can accumulate in his life and the best of the stories are narrated when they are told across boundaries. Fascinated by the idea of having a home everywhere and nowhere, I went on to explore how travelers live. Impressed by their way of life, I decided to give the idea a greater reach by writing about it. At the same time, wanting to write a thriller, I merged the two concepts. And so in the book, the story of a traveler is charted out in a Romance Thriller framework.

· What do you enjoy most about connecting with readers?

The best part about connecting with readers is becoming a party to different perspectives and seeing how your work has inspired them to create a better world for themselves or become better human beings. I am motivated to keep on writing every time I receive a mail regarding my work. Influencing lives, reaching out to people and making them aware of the existing issues at a psychological, social or even at the spiritual level is a blessing. And what’s better than they relating to your book and being inspired to do the work on themselves or around them. It is extremely joyful.

· Are you currently writing anything? Give a brief idea about it.

Something in the Romance genre. I have something in mind regarding abusive relationships. I am building up on that.

· Whom do you admire most and why?

I really admire the Bronte sisters. Bronte sisters are my favorite because of the complex, daunting, empowered female protagonists they wrote about back in the 19th century. Their work was ahead of their age, I believe. The plot is intriguing, growing, captivating and full of different perspectives that hold relevance even today. The characters they showcased are deep and so are the concepts in their books.

· How was the journey so far ?

It has been great. Of course I have had my ups and downs. As I’ve told you, I wrote my first book, A Silent Promise (2015), while I was pursuing my graduation from Hans Raj College, Delhi University. Being new to the field, finding an appropriate publishing house for my first book became a task. But once I did my homework for the first book, doing the same things for my second book seemed relatively easier.

It has been going pretty good since the release of my first book. I was invited as a speaker to Literature Festivals, college events and book reading sessions. People around me acknowledge my efforts and are impressed by how far I have come till now. I was overwhelmed when a student from Hans Raj reached out to me saying that she has seen my book in the college library. It meant a lot to me that my book actually found a place in my own college’s library and now students can actually go through its pages and get it issued, just like I used to get books issued back in my college days. I get a lot of appreciation among different circles. Readers reach out to me regarding my books and I get overwhelmed by reading their responses to my stories. It is amazing how a work of fiction can move people so much.

I believe that I still have miles to go. I have to write a lot of books. I have to reach out to more people, influence more lives and inspire more people. There are still a lot of stories waiting to be told. I like to experiment with different ideas so I would try that repetition of story lines never becomes a part of my books.
